The Government does not have Imserso trips in summer and is already targeting October.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Reyes Maroto was convinced that tourism will be reactivated as of June thanks to the digital green certificate and the vaccination process, which will allow our country to “reopen safely and be pioneers” .

The Minister of Tourism explained in Antena 3’s ‘Espejo Público’ program that Spain is working with the main tourist issuing countries preparing destinations with the aim of returning tourism to our territory this summer.

The vaccination passport planned by the EU raises scientific and ethical doubts
The Minister of Tourism is confident that the travel program for the elderly organized by the Imserso will be able to resume in October. “The good news is that we are working so that our elders, who are the most affected by the pandemic, can regain that hope in travel as well,” he explained.

In the minister’s opinion, “beyond being able to deploy a more ambitious program,” the government’s objective is “to be prudent.” “We are going to work so that this program can be developed this year, but with caution, because clearly we are still fighting the pandemic and we have high incidence rates.”

The minister considers that this year “will be a year of transition” and that in 2022 new tourism policy programs may be deployed for which a total of 3,400 million euros will be allocated, thanks to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of the Economy Plan.

Response to the employer
The president of the CEOE employer, Antonio Garamendi, has asked the Government to resume Imserso trips with those over 80 who are already vaccinated. According to his statements, it would be one of the ways to reactivate the tourism sector, especially in Mallorca.

For the minister, that would not be possible immediately considering that this tourist program requires an administrative procedure that “makes it quite laborious to be able to implement this program.”

“We have also waited to have more certainty about the vaccination program,” explained the minister, assuring that they are now in a process that is “tedious” and that sometimes delays the procedures.
