Four Internal Projects Of The Port Of Barcelona Receive Financing

Four internal projects of the Port of Barcelona receive financing for their development. The objective is to promote innovation by the port workers themselves.

Four ideas of companies that operate in the port of Barcelona have been chosen to receive financing in the first call for public aid from the Ports 4.0 Fund, within the framework of the plan to promote entrepreneurship in the port sector.

Two of these ideas have been presented in the “intrapreneurship” section, aimed at promoting innovation by port workers themselves, and two have been submitted to the call for general ideas.

The ideas chosen by the Interport Compensation Fund Distribution Committee will receive aid amounting to 500,000 euros. Of these, 75,000 euros are reserved for intrapreneurship.

In the first case, the KIM (Keep It Moving) project aims to create a platform that centralizes the information of all the companies participating in the empty container business.

The other project, called Open Info API for Ports, consists of an application programming interface (API) that offers, both to citizens and to logistics and port operators, a catalog of applications that provide information in real time on the state from the ports.

On the other hand, the general call has recognized the 3D-PNS project, focused on the development of spare parts for the nautical sector from recycled plastics and 3D printing.

Likewise, the Freight4all project will develop a technological solution for the logistics sector that, through a digital platform, brings together in a single site, a “marketplace”, both exporters and importers as well as companies in the sector.

The president of the Port of Barcelona, Mercè Conesa, has shown her satisfaction with the “innovative” drive of the port community. “I think this initiative is very interesting to contribute to the sustainable development of the port industry and that is why I want to encourage all professionals in the port community to participate in an imaginative way in new calls,” he added.
