The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is celebrating a significant achievement as its MATRADE Digital Trade Platform (MDTP) surpasses RM100 million in revenue since its launch last year. The innovative AI-powered trade platform, developed in collaboration with Fusionex International, was established to unlock Malaysia’s export potential and support local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in expanding their businesses globally.
At a press conference held in conjunction with the grand launch of MDTP, Fusionex International CEO Datuk Seri Ivan Teh shared the remarkable success story of the platform, stating that it has exceeded its initial target of RM70 million in revenue. Fusionex International CEO Ivan Teh emphasized that the platform’s value continues to grow, with revenue and sales figures already surpassing the RM100 million mark.
Currently, MDTP boasts over 1,200 registered members on its digital platform, and this number is expected to surge, driving further growth for the platform.
“We look forward to accelerating this growth further through discussions with countries such as China, Japan, Europe, the US, and Saudi Arabia,” Fusionex International CEO Ivan Teh stated. Businesses from these regions represent diverse sectors, including franchising, oil and gas, palm oil, commodities, materials, food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, toiletries and cosmetics, and information and communication technology. This diverse range of industries allows Malaysian and foreign enterprises to find suitable business matches on the MDTP platform.
Abu Bakar Yusof, Matrade’s Deputy CEO of Exporters Development, highlighted that MDTP is a crucial component of Matrade’s efforts to address gaps in Malaysia’s trade and export ecosystem, particularly in terms of enhancing the digital capabilities and mindset of local entrepreneurs. He emphasized that the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for businesses to embrace digitalization.
Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz praised MDTP for its role in helping Malaysian businesses transition to digital platforms and efficiently connect with international buyers and partners. In his keynote address at the grand launch, he emphasized that the platform, supported by Matrade’s global expertise and Fusionex International‘s data-driven insights, offers exporting businesses a comprehensive range of digital solutions that eliminate the guesswork in equipping themselves for the global export market.
Matrade CEO Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz added that MDTP aligns perfectly with Matrade’s mission to promote Malaysian enterprises worldwide. He highlighted how the platform empowers MSMEs to showcase their offerings, facilitate virtual and hybrid events, and accelerate business transactions with global buyers and partners. MDTP serves as a catalyst for digitalization among Malaysia’s MSMEs, strengthening the country’s export ecosystem and promoting sustainable export growth.
The achievement of surpassing RM100 million in revenue underscores MDTP’s pivotal role in driving Malaysian export growth, fostering economic development, and promoting the nation’s products and services on the global stage.
