At the intersection of executive education and enterprise innovation, Bianrong Wu has built a reputation for turning academic vision into tangible economic results. Over the past two decades, she has redefined how education empowers business by aligning classroom theory with the realities of market growth.

Reinventing Executive Education at Peking University

In 2007, when most executive programs remained confined to theory, Wu pioneered the Private Equity CEO Program at Peking University’s HSBC Business School—the first national initiative to combine academic instruction with practical capital-market execution. Under her leadership, the program integrated academic lectures by leading economists such as Li Yining and Huang Yiping with real-world investment simulations and direct project matchmaking.

To date, the program has trained more than 30,000 executives, over 60 percent of whom are now senior leaders of listed companies. Participating firms have completed financing and merger transactions exceeding RMB 500 billion. The China Investment Association formally recognized the program as a National Model for Industry–Education Integration, and it was featured in Tsinghua University Press’s China Business Education Innovation Report.

Transforming Learning into Enterprise Strategy

Since 2015, as Executive Dean of Zhengdao Business School, Wu has expanded her influence from theory to strategy implementation. Together with Renmin University of China, she established a Case Teaching Center and developed the New Business Thinking Practicum, which blends classical insights from The Zizhi Tongjian and I Ching with modern management principles. More than 12 universities have since adopted elements of this curriculum to train senior executives from both state-owned and private enterprises.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wu partnered with 21st Century Business Herald to launch the Public Welfare Live Classroom. The series featured global experts—including Nobel laureate Edmund Phelps—and delivered over 100 online lectures that drew a combined audience of more than 500 million viewers. Sina Finance praised the program as “a benchmark for making high-level education accessible to the public.” Her book Logic in Daily Life (published by Tsinghua University Press) has sold over 100,000 copies and is used as a textbook in 12 business schools nationwide.

Driving Government–Enterprise Collaboration

Beyond the classroom, Wu has made major contributions to public–private cooperation. As a key member of the China Investment Association, she designed a Dual-Criteria Evaluation System that assesses potential partners based on both financial capacity and social responsibility. The Association adopted this framework as its official standard for partnership selection—a policy shift that now guides national-level investment projects.

Since its implementation, over 700 enterprises have partnered with more than 20 provincial governments through this platform, mobilizing over RMB 120 billion in new energy and modern agriculture projects and creating more than 2,000 jobs. In Yangling, Wu helped launch the Zhengdao Yangling Modern Agriculture Institute, securing a RMB 500 million fund that doubled production for ten local enterprises and earning her the title of “Investment Promotion Ambassador.” In Weinan, she co-founded the Zhengdao Health Care Management College, training over 300 professionals to fill critical gaps in elderly-care services. Weinan Daily highlighted the initiative as “a model for industry–education collaboration in local development.”

International Reach and Policy Influence

Wu’s leadership extends beyond China. She directs the Zhengdao Global Study Program, which establishes collaboration channels between Chinese entrepreneurs and world-class institutions such as Harvard Business School and the University of Oxford. 21st Century Business Herald described it as “a vital bridge linking China’s emerging leaders with the global business community.” She also serves as an appointed evaluator for the China Industry–University–Research Cooperation Association, contributing to the drafting of national guidelines for industrial investment funds.

Recognition and Social Impact

Wu’s contributions have garnered broad recognition. She received the “Outstanding Director Award” from Peking University HSBC Business School for four consecutive years (2010–2014), an honor bestowed on fewer than 3 percent of nominees annually. Zhengdao Business School later granted her a “Lifetime Achievement Award (2005–2025)” for establishing national benchmarks in executive education. In 2018, she founded the Renmin University–Zhengdao Public Welfare Scholarship, which has funded over 100 low-income students to complete their education and study abroad. Her philanthropic efforts during the Wenchuan and Yushu earthquakes mobilized millions in corporate donations and earned recognition from the China Charity Federation.

Today, Bianrong Wu’s work continues to influence how education, investment, and policy intersect across China and beyond. By translating knowledge into action and collaboration into impact, she has become a leading figure in integrating education with enterprise for sustainable growth.
