Farm-fresh ingredients and formulas blended by hand? Yes, please! Plant Mother, a 100% organic, vegan skincare brand, is a newcomer to the beauty scene. Vegan Vitamin C and Retinol Serums from Plant Mother are chemical-free, vegan, and are quickly gaining popularity in the clean beauty market. We spoke with Plant Mother’s Founder and CEO Jena Joyce about her products and brand’s strict plastic-free policy.
Which of your products is most beneficial to dry and aging skin?
Plant Mother’s Retinol Serum is an effective anti-aging treatment for dry and sensitive skin. It is a vegan, organic vitamin A that gets the job done without causing redness, irritation, or skin purging.
Conventional synthetic retinol causes redness and dryness when you first start using it. Plant Mother’s retinol overcomes this problem because it’s made without any harsh chemicals and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin. It is the most nutrient-dense anti-aging retinol on the market, with over 20 fresh organic botanicals and over 200 nutrients.
What’s Plant Mother’s most efficient antioxidant serum?
Definitely Plant Mother’s Vitamin C Serum. It is a fresh, botanical food for skin. I like to start my day with it. This formula adds light moisture, lots of nutrients, and also provides refreshing antioxidant action throughout the day with the powerfully rejuvenating combination of vitamin C, E, and folic acid. It’s made with Kakadu plum that has 55 times more vitamin C than oranges. This serum infuses skin with antioxidant protection, restoring elasticity, and brightness.
It is best to use Plant Mother’s Vitamin C in the morning and Retinol overnight. Vitamin C and Retinol provide protection, nourishment, and collagen boost necessary for any age. Don’t mix them together though, use them separately, one during the day and the other overnight for the absolute best results.
Tell us a little about Plant Mother’s ingredients.
Most of Plant Mother’s ingredients are grown in a small organic garden here in Miami. They’re cultivated without GMOs or any use of chemical pesticides. We use these amazing, natural ingredients to manufacture Plant Mother’s products. I like to use expensive and hard-to-find anti-aging oils: prickly pear, acai, Kakadu plum, cloudberry, cacay, sea buckthorn, hibiscus. Each one has its own role in the formula, and a unique composition and texture.
Plant Mother’s production is made in-house which helps us fully control the quality and freshness of our serums. It also helps reduce our carbon footprint by completely cutting out third-party suppliers. Our products are not subcontracted to any third party who would require us to produce in large volumes. That would cause the serums to lose freshness while they sit in warehouses. We don’t outsource anything, and we’re proud to be 100% made in the United States.
You’ve been very vocal about Plant Mother’s plastic-free policy.
Yes, the plastic that goes into each bottle of beauty products is a burden we can no longer place on our planet. Plant Mother’s packaging is zero waste and made of fully recyclable and reusable components. I strongly encourage folks to look into alternatives to plastic bottled skincare, as there are wonderful refillable alternatives. Even though some people don’t tend to care as much about their social responsibility, I have faith humans as a whole will soon come around to ending plastic use, and I’d like to see brands come out alive on the other end, continuing to make great product, with no plastic packaging. We invite like-minded men and women to apply to Plant Mother’s brand ambassador jobs and help us spread the word about environmentally responsible beauty.
