On Saturday, August 2, Bay Street Theater unveiled its highly anticipated production of Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical, marking a thrilling new installment in its 2025 Mainstage Season. Directed by Artistic Director Scott Schwartz, this intimate revival reinterprets the legendary story of America’s notorious outlaw couple, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.
The production, featuring a cast of ten, employs a minimalist set crafted by designer Anna Louizos, which enhances the emotional depth of the story. This approach allows the audience to connect with the musical’s core themes of love, rebellion, and desperation. The score, composed by Frank Wildhorn, combined with lyrics by Don Black and a book by Ivan Menchell, showcases a diverse soundscape, blending blues, gospel, and rockabilly influences.
Standout performances were delivered by Amy Bodnar, Gisela Adisa, Nick Bailey, and Lyda Jade Harlan, with choreography directed by Emily Maltby and costumes designed by Ashley Soliman. The creative team also includes lighting designer Mike Billings, sound designer Jon Weston, music director Noah Teplin, and projection designer Michael Salvatore Commendatore.
Opening night was met with enthusiasm from a lively crowd comprised of theater aficionados and notable guests. Among the attendees were Bay Street trustees Lynn Mestel, Steve Todrys, David Fink, John Frawley, Wendy Hashmall, Keith Green, and Stewart F. Lane. Notable personalities such as Christie Brinkley, Donna Karan, Tony winner Bonnie Comley, playwright Ivan Menchell, Broadway director Walter Bobbie, and RKO Studios’ Ted Hartley also graced the event.
Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical will run until August 24, with performances scheduled from Tuesday through Sunday, including evening and select matinee shows. Tickets can be purchased at baystreet.org or by contacting the box office.
As a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching lives through live performances, Bay Street Theater relies on the support of generous sponsors, including Build Labs, Corcoran, and Baron’s Cove, to present dynamic, world-class productions.
