“Photography can heal” – with such a statement, Jenya Barrat, a certified doctor and photographer, will present her social research project.
Jenya has created unique way for conducting therapeutic art photo shoots that can turn an ordinary woman into a “true” version of herself, abolishing the concepts of norms, limits or restrictions.
The therapeutic exhibition “Evolution of the Senses” is a direct proof of the inextricable link between art and science:
The key idea and deep meaning of the photo exhibition, according to the author, are 13 portraits of female models that tell us: “I show true feelings, so I live.”
Jenya’s works embraced all the chemistry of a woman’s feelings, of an irresistible force that restrains emotions and doesn’t allow their manifestation. But even in such seemingly judgment-free conditions, many of the models were afraid to go beyond the standards of beauty imposed by society: having become accustomed to living up to other people’s expectations, it is difficult to be you – without any masks. And in order to express the full range of feelings, you need to allow yourself just to realize them.
The main goal of the «Evolution of Feelings» exhibition is to help you hear yourself and support those who are going through psychological and emotional distress. To make it clear to everyone that this world can be trusted even if it is scary or painful. Photography is able to reveal the potential of the individual, work through childhood traumas and free from other people’s expectations and frameworks. To teach a person to express, describe and realize his emotions and feelings, to see what he hides in pursuit of an ideal image and successful shots is one of the main tasks of Jenya Barrat’s art therapy.
Jenya’s works will show how photography can heal and reveal itself without words. Photographs won’t be presented for sale, all works are personalized and non-transferable. A deep dive into the world of emotions without embellishment will await you.
The exhibition will take place from October 27 to November 4, 2022 at the Excellence Gallery, in Saint–Jean–Cap–Ferrat
The guests of the exhibition will be experts in the field of psychology and art, actors and public figures.
Entrance to the exhibition is free.
