From its headquarters in London, Welzo has rapidly become the largest retailer of vitamins and supplements in the United Kingdom. The digital health company’s growth has been driven by its innovative use of AI-powered personalisation, at-home health testing, and a strong commitment to making wellness more accessible across England and the wider UK.
We spoke with Adonis Hakkim, CEO and Founder of Welzo, about the company’s origins, its technology, and its vision for the future of health in Britain.
Adonis, how did Welzo start, and what problem were you trying to solve?
Adonis Hakkim: The idea for Welzo came from seeing how fragmented the health and wellness industry was in the UK. People were buying vitamins based on marketing rather than science, and healthcare services were often reactive instead of preventative.
We wanted to build something that connected both worlds, a platform where users could test their health at home, see real data about their body, and then find targeted supplements that match those results. That’s how Welzo was born.
Today, we have over 42,000 products and 2,700 global brands, all accessible to customers across the United Kingdom, with fulfilment centres in London, Birmingham, and Manchester.
Welzo has been described as the UK’s answer to iHerb. How do you see your platform in that context?
Adonis Hakkim: We are not simply a retailer; Welzo is a technology platform built specifically for the UK market. Our goal isn’t just to sell supplements; it’s to empower users to analyse their own biomarkers and access real, optimised health data that shows exactly what supplements and wellness products they need.
Through our integration of AI-backed personalisation and at-home health testing, users receive actionable insights about their health and can make informed, data-driven decisions about their wellbeing.
AI and health data are big topics. How does Welzo ensure reliability and trust in its recommendations?
Adonis Hakkim: We use AI as an assistive tool, not a replacement for medical judgment. Our algorithms are built in collaboration with nutritionists and healthcare professionals based in the UK. Every recommendation is supported by peer-reviewed data and verified product quality.
We’ve also created a Knowledge Hub on our website, a library of articles written by British doctors and nutrition experts, where users can learn about supplements, deficiencies, and general wellbeing. Transparency is key to everything we do.
What do you think sets Welzo apart most in the UK wellness industry?
Adonis Hakkim: Three things: local presence, scientific credibility, and customer empowerment.
Our UK fulfilment network gives us unmatched delivery speed. Our AI-health testing integration offers accuracy. And our educational content helps customers make decisions with confidence.
We don’t just sell vitamins; we help people in London, Birmingham, Manchester, and everywhere in between understand why they need them.
Where do you see the future of preventative healthcare heading in the United Kingdom?
Adonis Hakkim: The UK is shifting toward a more proactive model of healthcare, where people manage their health before issues arise. Welzo fits perfectly into that movement.
Our goal is to make health testing and supplementation as normal as ordering groceries online. If someone can take a simple test, identify a deficiency, and immediately access the right supplements from a trusted British source, that’s a win for both individual wellbeing and public health.
Finally, what’s next for Welzo?
Adonis Hakkim: We’re expanding our AI capabilities and partnering with more UK healthcare providers to create a truly connected ecosystem. We also plan to launch new educational initiatives focused on preventative health, giving people across England and the wider United Kingdom the tools to live longer, healthier lives.
“Our mission is to simplify health through technology, trust, and transparency,” says Hakkim.
“We want Welzo to be the name people in the UK associate with reliable wellness, from testing to supplements to personalised advice.”
