While a majority of people stick to a 9 to 5 job, there are others who choose a different path of carving out their own identities. The path of entrepreneurship is not a cakewalk, and not everyone who embarks on this journey achieves success. Persistence, dedication, patience, and risk-taking ability are a few of the qualities required to be a successful entrepreneur. One of the most important qualities is patience since entrepreneurship is like growing a seed that will bear fruit in its own time. This article brings you the story of an entrepreneur who is the founder of two successful ventures today—King of Maids and BookingKoala.
King of Maids is a cleaning service in Chicago that Filip Boksa started with one of his friends, putting in a combined investment of $6,000. The business grew quickly and generated $5,000,000 in revenue after three years. Before this, Boksa used to help his father in his carpeting business while managing his studies alongside.
Though Filip was good at studying, he was more inclined toward establishing his own business. His curiosity and keen interest made him launch BookingKoala, a platform to grow your service business, which is today home to thousands of entrepreneurs. Filip started this enterprise as a bootstrapped initiative and aims to give it a unicorn status.
Recently, his company BookingKoala released a new streaming service for business owners. “The content will be centered around motivation, inspiration, and education so that new entrepreneurs can subscribe to the service and get all the information they need to grow any business in the service industry,” said Filip.
Filip says that starting your business requires certain sacrifices on the personal front. He adds that one has to let go of their leisure activities and focus single-mindedly on their business. Once Filip witnessed the fruits of his efforts, he dropped out of college to become a full-time entrepreneur. For quite some time, he even brought his relationship to a standstill and gave up on activities like vacations.
Filip also believes that it is very important for your business partner to resonate with your mission. On that note, he says, “I still remember back to the first morning when I woke up to clients booking our services overnight. It was something special, and we figured out how to make money while we were asleep.”
Boksa advises budding entrepreneurs to bring in their creativity and innovation to survive in a competitive market. “It just goes to show you that if you keep on working hard, doors will open themselves up for you. I never thought of building something like BookingKoala, but when the opportunity opened up, I went for it”, says Boksa.
