In a testament to the power of philanthropy and community engagement, the Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon became a remarkable gathering place for over a thousand civic leaders and generous supporters. Hosted by the Women’s Committee of the Central Park Conservancy in the enchanting Conservatory Garden, the event raised an impressive $4.3 million to support Central Park, one of the city’s most cherished public spaces.

This year’s luncheon, marked by breathtaking floral displays and an elegant crowd, was co-chaired by four dynamic women: Ranika Cohen, Bonnie Comley, Jenna Segal, and Julia Power Weld. Their leadership and unwavering dedication were pivotal in not only driving the event’s success but also showcasing the strength and influence of female leadership in philanthropy.

Tracey Huff, President of the Women’s Committee, along with Betsy Smith, President and CEO of the Central Park Conservancy, and Tom Kempner, Chair of the Board, played a crucial role in guiding the event. Together, this robust leadership team emphasized their commitment to preserving Central Park as a vibrant oasis in the heart of Manhattan.

Now in its 40th year, the luncheon stands as a crucial fundraising initiative for the Central Park Conservancy, which provides private funding for 85% of the park’s $100 million annual budget. The funds raised during this event will directly enhance the park’s horticulture, landscapes, programming, and essential infrastructure, ensuring that the expansive 843-acre green space continues to thrive for residents and visitors alike.

Jenny Price was honored at this year’s luncheon for her decades of commitment to the Conservancy and her long-standing role on the Women’s Committee. The event also featured a poignant tribute to the late Norma T. Dana, the last surviving founding member of the Committee, celebrated for her visionary role in revitalizing Central Park.

While renowned for its elegant fashion and extravagant hats, the Frederick Law Olmsted Luncheon remains fundamentally a celebration of civic responsibility and community investment. It serves as a clarion call for all generations to engage, support, and contribute to the sustainability of New York City’s beloved green spaces.

As the city continues to bustle with life, the luncheon provided a moment of reflection and appreciation for the power of collective generosity. To learn more about the Central Park Conservancy and how to get involved, visit centralparknyc.org.
