In a landmark deal that sets new industry standards, Qatar Airways has announced a historic order for up to 210 widebody jets from Boeing [NYSE: BA]. This agreement marks the largest widebody order in Boeing’s history, surpassing all previous records, and includes the airline’s largest-ever acquisition of 787 Dreamliners.
The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures including U.S. President Donald J. Trump, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, and Boeing executives, illustrating the significance of this partnership. The deal underscores Qatar Airways’ commitment to expanding its global footprint while enhancing its fleet with the latest in aviation technology.
The comprehensive order comprises 130 787 Dreamliners, aircraft renowned for their fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, providing a 25% improvement in fuel usage compared to their predecessors. Additionally, the order includes 30 777-9s, which are lauded as the world’s largest twin-engine jets, designed to reduce emissions by the same percentage and enhance the travel experience.
Qatar Airways has also acquired options for an additional 50 aircraft, allowing flexibility for future expansion as it strives to meet growing demand in the aviation sector.
